Day 1: Xian Airport/Xian Train Station

1. Pick you up from Xian Xianyang Airport or Xian Train Station and firstly transfer you to have Lunch.
2. After lunch, have a visit to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda for a visit. Big Goose Pagoda is one of the oldest structures in China. It functioned to collect Buddhist materials that were taken from India by the hierarch Xuanzang.
3. Then move on to visit Shaanxi Province History Museum. If you love Chinese history, Shaanxi Provincial Museum is a must on your Xian trip. 370,000 exhibits in the museum vividly show the history of over a million years from prehistoric times (1,150,000 years ago - 21st Century BC) to about 1840 AD.
4. Transfer you back to your hotel for refreshment. At 18:00, pick you up from hotel and have night view of Xian South Gate, the most beautiful gate around Xian city Wall. Then move on to Bell Tower, which is just in the middle of city.
5. Dumpling dinner will be arranged at Defachang Restaurant. After dinner, walk into Muslim Quarters where you could find many restaurants, souvenir and local special snacks.
6. At 21:00, transfer you back to your hotel.

Big Goose Pagoda
The pagoda is built on the premises of theTemple of Great Maternal Grace (Da Ci'en), originally built in 589 AD and thenrebuilt 647 AD by the Tang Emperor Gaozong in memory of his mother EmpressWende.

Xian History Museum
Situated on Xiaozhai East Road on the northwest side of Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the Shaanxi History Museum is the first modern national museum. It was built in 1983 and opened to the public in 1991. It covers 65,000 square meters (16 acres), of which 11,000 square meters (207 acres) belong to the exhibition halls and 8,000 square meters (about 2 acres) are used as warehouses for storing relics. Now 370,000 exhibits in the museum vividly show the history of over a million years from prehistoric times (1,150,000 years ago - 21st Century BC) to about 1840 AD.

Bell and Drum Tower
The Drum Tower was built in 1380 during the early Ming Dynasty, and got its name from the hugedrum located within the building. In contrast to the Bell Tower ,where bell was stricken at dawn, drum was beat at sunset to indicate the end of the day. |
