Big Goose Pagoda [ Related Itinerary ]

Big Wild Goose Pagoda is located in the central zone of Xian and it has become one of the landmarks of Xian tourism. Big Wild Goose Pagoda was first built in 652 in the Tang Dynasty and located in Ci'en temple complex. It functioned to collect Buddhist materials that were taken from India by the hierarch Xuanzang. Although it was destroyed and rebuilt many times, the architecture of pagoda was still reflected design and layout of ancient Tang Dynasty.

The main building of Big Wild Goose Pagoda itself has 64 meters high, a brick and wood structure. In total, the pagoda has 7 floor and architecture is traditional Chinese style decorating with some Buddha statues. There are wooden stairs inside the pagoda and one arched window at each of the four sides on every storey. Today, the pagoda still looks so solid and strong although it had built more than thousand years ago and visitors can have a panorama of the surrounding through the window.

There are so many elements that complementing each other including garden architecture & layout and the Big Wild Goose Pagoda that make the complex become a fantastic historical site. Visitors will enjoy quite, peace, and calm atmosphere inside. Around it, there are hiding so many gardens among lots of stunning pagoda yard. Located at the foot of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is the Music Fountain Square. Covering an area of 168,000 square meters, it is made up of music fountains, cultural square, garden landscapes, tourist and commercial facilities. In the evening, the artificial streams flowing from the ground make the square full of of colorful water with the embellishment of all kinds of light sources.

Walking through many gardens or looking pagoda scenery will become an unforgettable moment. When night comes this historical complex will looks very beauty with some bright light filled it. It is too fascinating view to miss. Big Wild Goose Pagoda is one tourism symbol of Xian and a must visit for tourists who come to the ancient city, Xian.
