Qufu[ Related Itinerary ]

Located in the southwest of Shandong Province, Qufu is the hometown of the great Chinese philosopher and educator - Confucius. Also the city enjoys a long history, which served as the capital of the State of Lu during the Spring and Autumn Period. In 1982, it was released as the first historical and cultural city by the State Councils, and known as "the East Jerusalem" in the West. In 1994, the Confucius Temple, Confucius Cemetery and Confucius Mansion are ranked as the World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.

Covering an area of 815 square kilometers, there are more than 600 cultural relics in the area. Confucius Temple is a group of oriental architectural features, large-scale, imposing ancient buildings for China's feudal dynasties in honor of Confucius. Confucius Cemetery is the largest artificial park and the best preserved ancient cemetery in China. Confucius Mansion used to be the house of the descendants of Confucius for a long time.
