Simatai Great Wall was closed for renovation and development in June 2010, but has been reopened for public in 2014. Simatai was ever the most popular section for the Great Wall hiking lovers, as this section incorporated the different characteristics of each section of the Great Wall and was described as “The Great Wall is the best of the Chinese buildings, and Simatai is the best of the Great Wall”.

Now, Simatai Great Wall is a part of Gubei Water Town International Holiday Area. And the other part is Gubei Water Town International Tourism Area, including reproduced cultural streets and Chinese traditional handcrafts shops like kites and lamps, a variety of guesthouses, different style of home-made restaurants and etc.. Especially, the night view of Gubei Water Town is amazing, as now the Simatai Great Wall is decorated with night lights and different shape of night light are sparkled in the town. Moreover, by the foot of Simatai Great Wall, musical fountain show is fabulous in the night.
