Yellow Dragon Cave [ Related Itinerary ]

Located at the eastern end of Wulingyuan Scenic Area, Yellow Dragon Cave is one of the top six most beautiful show caves in China. As one of the top tourist destinations in Zhangjiajie, it is just like an underground "magical palace", full of fantastic caves, secluded rivers, hanging waterfalls and dense stalagmite. According to the record provided by experts, the region was once a vast of ocean with limestone and dolomite layers on bottom million years ago. As time goes by, until 65 million years ago, the crust uplift gave birth to vadose cave, which finally turned to Yellow Dragon Cave. The Yellow Dragon Cave today is 7.5 kilometers long and 140 meters deep. Due to its rich history and formation, there is no doubt that it is the most unique cave among all caves in the world.

After the visit to the Yellow Dragon Cave, most visitors give the conclusion that it is more beautiful than the outside world. There are one reservoir, two rivers, three ponds, four stone falls, thirteen halls, ninety eight corridors, dozens of hills, thousands of white jade ponds and ten thousand stalagmites inside the Yellow Dragon Cave, just like an amazing underground maze. The Yellow Dragon Cavern has five sightseeing spots: Dragon's Palace, Fairy Wate, Rattle River, Paradise Pillar Street and Dragon Dance Hall. Also there are more than 100 scenic spots with unique characteristics deserve exploring such as Mythical Needles Stabilizing the Sea, Snow Pine, King's Throne, Lift-off of Rocket, Mountain of Flowers and Fruits, Fairy Waterfalls, Sea-Change, etc. Among all the scenic spots, the most fantastic ones are the Stone Fields Chamber and the Stalagmite Chamber. The stalagmite known as "sacred Needle for Stabilizing the Sea" is unique in China. While stepping into the cave, visitors will feel as if there were step into a fairy tale world.
