Once named Miaoqian Dajie, Shanghai Old Street also known as Chenghuangmiao, is an old business street housing tourist attractions, shops, and cultural exhibits. It gets famous for special social attractions and rich commercial background. Overview about Shanghai Old Street
Walking along the street, you could feel the development of Shanghai from Ming Dynasty to modern times on these shops' architectures and layout. In the eastern part of the street, the decorations reflect the residential characters of later Qing Dynasty. Swing doors to the ground, lattice windows, graceful roofs with upswept eaves, all these show the architecture style of Qing Dynasty. In the western part of this old street, the buildings reflect the Ming and Qing dynasties with elegant architecture, such as Yu Garden. The buildings in the garden are all harmoniously arranged housing red poles, pink walls and black roofs. Also since Shanghai is rich in diverse culture, so there are several European buildings located.

Wandering in Shanghai Old Street
The famous Tong Han Chun Pharmacy, Lao Tong Sheng Food Store and Wu Liang Cai Glass Shop are located on the eastern part of the old street. Pay a visit to these time-honored shops, you will feel as if traced back to the old Shanghai 100 years ago. Relaxing in the Chun Feng De Yi teahouse, tourists could enjoy the Yuanbao Tea and if you come during the weekends, you can enjoy the Pingtan (Suzhou Ballads) performance as well. In the western part of the old street, the folk culture items are sold in the antique shops, embroidery houses and wonderful fabric shops.

Shanghai Old Street has about 225 stores selling the handicraft articles, paintings, calligraphy and jewelry. Besides, here is also famous as a food street in Shanghai.
