Mt. Cangshan is the main mountain in the south of Yunling mountain chain consisting of 19 peaks. Extend 50 kilometers from north to south, the 19 peaks are all with the altitude of more than 3500 meters, 7 of which are over 4000 meters. Famous for the snow, clouds, springs and marble, it is one of the most popular destinations among visitors in Dali, Yunnan Province.

Highlights to See
The snow is the first to be mentioned while visiting Mt. Cangshan. During the daytime under the bright sunshine, the snow is so dazzling and splendent. When night falls, under the tender moonlight, the argenteous snow makes the whole mountain look like a crystal world. As the main ethnic minority living in Dali, the Bai People have many beautiful stories about this snow-capped mountain.

Due to the irregular changes in a day, the clouds around the peaks of Mt. Cangshan show diverse marvelous views. Wangfu Cloud (Waiting-husband Cloud) and Yudai Cloud (Jade Belt Cloud) are the representatives. Wangfu Cloud is a love story between a princess and a hunter. Often emerges around the Yuju Peak during the period of winter or spring, it is regarded as a sign for fierce gale and terrifying waves on Erhai Lake. The Yudai Cloud is charming and lovely. Often emerges after rains and looks like a milk-white jade belt twisting Mt. Cangshan, it is regarded as a omen for a good harvest to local Bai People.

The springs are also the highlight to see in Mt. Cangshan. Butterfly Spring is the most famous one for its terrific scenic beauties during the Butterfly Festival on April 15th of the lunar calendar. During the festival, thousands of butterflies are flying around the spring. All kinds of flourishing flowers, trees with elegant fragrance and thousands of colorful butterflies show a superb scene. Besides, there are 18 streams and many lakes with the altitude of over 3,800 meters covered with forests all worth a visit.

Besides the natural scenery, Mt. Cangshan is also a famed as a manufacture center of a smooth marble. The stone is distinguished by the unique patterns. Natural scenes of mountains, flowers, birds or people appear once it is polished. The exquisite craftworks made of marble are sold here and if you like, you could buy some home.
