History about Chongqing Liberation Monument
Chongqing Liberation Monument standing in the downtown area is not only the symbol of civilization, but also the evidence of the history for half century. On March 12, 1940, a wooden memorial was built at the site in memory of Sun Yat-Sen, the forefather of democratic revolution in China. In memory of the victory of Anti-Japanese War (1938-1945) and to encourage the whole nation to fight against enemy, in 1945, the monument was been built. In 1950, the famous communist Liu Bocheng named the monument as "Chongqing Liberation Monument".

Chongqing Liberation Monument is a 27.5 meters high construction in white color with a winding staircase leads to the top. On the top of the monument there decorated a couple of bells in all directions. Every hour, it will ring in loud voice.

Jeifangbei Plaza
Regarded Liberation Monument as the center, the Jeifangbei Plaza was built in 1997. Around the square there set up more than 3,000 stores and shops of various kinds including large malls and shopping centers. Different levels of hotels from budge to luxury, over 300 establishments and offices, banks, stock markets, postal and telecommunication services and places for entertainment are get together in this area.
