Located in Leshan City, Sichuan Province, Mt. Emei is one of China's four most sacred Buddhist mountains (the other three are Putuo Mountain in Zhejiang Province; Jiuhua Mountain in Anhui Province; and Wutai Mountain in Shanxi Province). In Mt. Emei, the Buddhist architectures, music, grottoes and paintings all reflect the rich religious flavor and culture.

There are four scenic spots on Mt. Emei: Baoguo Temple, Wannian Temple, Qingyin Pavilion and Golden Summit.
Baoguo Temple: Baoguo Temple is the biggest temple of Mt. Emei and also the entrance of the mountain. Built in the 1500s, it was the center for Buddhism event. Many historical relics are in the temple including Sutra Library, enormous porcelain Buddha and a huge bronze bell of 25 tons. The entrance ticket of Mt. Emei does not contain Baoguo Temple, so if you want to visit the temple, you need to pay extra 8RMB.

Wannian Temple: Wannian Temple is one of the major temples in Mount Emei. Since built, it experienced several times of reconstruction. In the temple there is a 8.5 meters high statue of the Buddhist Lord of Truth sitting on an elephant. Also it is said that there is a kind of special frog living in the pond of Wannian Temple and every night, they release the pleasant sound.

Qingyin Pavilion: Qingyin Pavilion is hidden in Niuxin Mountain at the confluence of Heilong River and Bailong River. The pavilion got its name from the sound of peaceful drip drops of trickling water from a nearby stream. At confluence canyon there is a black stone shaped like a cattle heart. Under the pavilion there are two Fly Bridges. With tranquil atmosphere, the pavilion now becomes a nice place to have a short rest and practice Taiji by the locals.

The Golden Summit: The Golden Summit is the highlight and the second highest peak (3077 meters above sea level) of Mount Emei. According to Buddhism, the Golden Summit means the summit of luminosity and happiness. The golden Buddha statue is 48 meters high. As the biggest pilgrimage center of Chinese Buddhists, the sight-seeing platform is available for more than 1000 tourists.

Besides the historical sites and Buddhist temples, there is another attractive thing to do on Mount Emei - visit the Monkey Zone. These macaques are cute, but don't let them deceive you, some of them can be real bullies. While visiting, please be careful.
