The Great Wall is one of 7 wonders in the World. In China, all Chinese people know the famous saying by Chairman Mao "He who has not climbed the Great Wall is not a true man". So, for all the tourists hiking or viewing the Great Wall is one of the must do things in Beijing.

There are several sections of the Great Wall located in Beijing: Badaling, Mutianyu, Juyongguan, Jinshanling, Simatai, Huanghuacheng, Gubeikou. Every section has different characters. Could you figure out which section to explore?

Badaling Great Wall
Located in Yanqing County, over 70 kilometers north of Beijing downtown, Badaling Great Wall is the most famous, best-preserved and always the most busy section, ever climbed by Mao Zedong. From November to April this period is good to visit it, as it is not the peak tourism time. Of course, it is still a little bit crowded even on common days.

Mutianyu Great Wall
Located in Huairou County, Mutianyu Great Wall is our highly recommendation section for foreign visitors. This section of Great Wall winds 1.4 miles through lofty mountains and high ridges and there are 22 watch towers distributed at close intervals along the wall. It is much less crowded, with more beautiful landscapes, advanced facilities like cable car or toboggan.

Juyongguan Great Wall
Located in Changping District, about 60 kilometers north of Beijing downtown, Juyongguan is also a renowned pass popular among foreign visitors. Situated in a valley surrounded by mountains, Juyongguan Pass has long been a military stronghold. But It is not just a military stronghold, while climbing the Great Wall you could also enjoy a charming scenery. Kindly remark, there is no cable car on the wall, so it is a hard work for hiking.

Jinshanling Great Wall
Jinshanling Great Wall is suitable for those who like outdoor adventure due to its wildness, though it is 3-hours driving distance from Beijing city. Jinshanling has five main passes and 67 watchtowers totally. Every 100 meters, there is an enemy tower which is about ten meters high. The beautiful sunset is the most attractive part for hiking here.

Simatai Great Wall
Simatai Great Wall is a popular stretch of the Great Wall that combines the "Wild Wall" features, breathtaking views and ample opportunities for hiking. Hiking lovers usually choose the trail between Jinshanling and Simatai which offers exquisite 10 kilometer hiking experience along the Great Wall.

Huanghucheng Great Wall
Huanghucheng Great Wall bring much more original view of ancient wall and deep sense of long history, and maybe you cannot see anybody during the whole hiking. Normally, the two sections are NOT recommended due to security reason. But for nature & adventure lovers, it is nearly paradise.

Gubeikou Great Wall
Located in the northeast of Miyun County, situated between Shanhaiguan and Juyongguan, Gubeikou Great Wall occupies a strategically important location which is difficult to access. Also it grants magnificent views stretching beyond the horizon in the east and west. Same as Huanghuacheng, due to the security reason, it is not recommended but for adventure lovers, it is nearly paradise.
