Fragrant Hills Park or also called Xiangshan Park is a historical royal park full of natural and cultural attractions. Located about 28 kilometers from the center of Beijing, covering an area of 400 hectares, the park is covered with large amount of green trees, some historical residences and pavilions. Fragrant Hills Park is one of the top ten biggest parks in Beijing and a hot tourist destination especially in autumn.

Fragrant Hills Park was first built in 1186 in Jin Dynasty and extended to a large scale park in Yuan and Ming dynasties. Inside the park, there have some famous sightseeing including, Xianglu Peak, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, Zhisong Park, Shuangqing Villa, etc.

Xianglu Peak: Xianglu Peak is the top point in Fragrant Hills Park, 557 meters above the sea level. From there, visitors can look far away and gain a beautiful view of Beijing city. Most of people were enjoyed the beauty view from the top and also take some pictures of it. In that area, there also has lots of store that sold various things include souvenirs, foods, and others. At the top, there had also the chairlift waiting lines that will bring you to go down. But if you want to take the chair lift down the hill you may take a long time to wait.

Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall: This hall was once named Pumingmiaojue Palace. After Mr. Sun Yat-sen's death in 1925, his coffin was once send to here. People grieved over Sun's death at the palace and renamed the it as the Memorial Hall for Sun Yat-sen.

Zhisong Park: The name means the place to understand pine trees. From the name you will know that it is the park full of pine trees. Located in the west of the main visiting artery, there are over 100 ancient pine trees living here.

Shuangqing Villa: It is a quiet courtyard built in 1917, where is the former residence of Mao Zedong. In the entrance, hang one large picture of Mao Zedong. The area was not too large, it is just one small library or office, the conference room, and one simple bedroom. The conference room looks very comfortable although it look very old. Inside, visitors did not allow take pictures. With small pool and trees around, that area become one of the ideal resting places for the visitors. 

Another unique view worth to see happens when the autumn season has come. Inside the park, there plant lots of maple trees, smoke trees and persimmon trees. And when the autumn comes, all the leaves will turns to red and make the view turn spectacular. The streets inside the park will also be covered with red leaves, so if you see it from a distance just like roll out the red carpet. Even the leaves will fall down to the lake inside the park, as if the lake turn red covered with bunch of red leaves.
