Beijing Zoo [ Related Itinerary ]

Beijing Zoo is located in Xicheng District, just west of the second ring road. As the home to around 450 different species and has a population of some 5,000 animals, now it is the biggest zoo in China.

Beijing Zoo is comprised of 16 different exhibition areas and halls. All of the halls aim to ensure that the animals enjoy a both comfortable and healthy living environment. There are dedicated houses for pandas, hippos, rhinoceros, giraffes, elephants, amphibians, reptiles, golden monkeys, orangutans, otters and other animals. Among all the animals, the highlight is the Pandas.

Panda House was built in the year of 1989 covering an area of around 10,000 square meters. It is one of the Beijing top 10 architectures at that time. Entering the Beijing Zoo Gate, walk through the archway gate on your right hand, you will find the Entrance to the Giant Panda House. The Panda House contains 2 parts: the Asian House and the Olympic House and in the house there are three public exhibition rooms. As everyone knows that the giant panda is recognized as the national treasures animal. Due to their endangered status, the giant pandas always receive "VIP" treatment wherever they go. While eating bamboos, climbing the tree, playing with each other or just sleeping, the fat body make them look so cute.

Another attractive destination in Beijing Zoo is Beijing Aquarium. Beijing Aquarium is located in the northeast of Beijing Zoo covering an area of 35,000 square meters. Seen from afar, it looks like a gigantic ocean trumpet shell. The aquarium features thousands of different aquatic species opened to the public in 1999. The building is divided into 7 exhibitions, from sea mammals to tropical coral reefs, each of them has a special theme. Here has 6 halls: Rainforest Wonder, Shark Hall, Whale and Dolphin Bay, Seabed Travel, Feel Pool and Ocean Theater.

Beijing Zoo is more than just a paradise for animals. A few gardens were built to grow the flowers and trees to provide a more comfortable environment to the visitors.
