Located in the southern portion of Guangdong Province, on the eastern shore of the Pearl River Delta and neighboring, Shenzhen is the first Special Economic Zone of China in 1980. The city stands against mountains and faces the sea, covering a total area of 2,050 square kilometers, with the population of 1.32 million. The whole city was divided into 6 zones, 4 of which are located in the Special Economic Zone. As the first special economic zone, Shenzhen has strong influence in economy of China and became a popular tourist city ever since.
More than thirty years ago, it just was a small fishing village and in 1979, it was renamed Shenzhen City.
